Goat Hair

The natural goat hair used for brush making is mostly taken from Korean or Chinese goats and comes mainly from the softer parts of the goat’s fur. Goat hair is very soft and has a very good color absorption. It is slightly stronger than pony hair and has low elasticity. Goat hair brushes however can still form a nice point. Traditionally, either white or black goat hair is used to produce painting brushes. It can be used very well for gilding, wettening the paper, or as a washing brush in watercolor painting as well as for ink.
